“YOU’RE MY HERO!”

The difficulty we are experiencing in this 21st century gives us reason to pause reflectively in recognition that there are those who have been or are seeking public office whose agenda is not very heroic. They are programmed by the “money changers” about whom we were warned centuries ago. They are the users up and abusers of the great gifts, of this exceptional “work in progress,” we call America. To be sure, they are convincing imitators of goodness, while profaning our faith and feigning patriotism. However they are not the good guys, for good guys do not look down on us from on high, while saying “no” to our Asking, Seeking & Knocking for a more secure footing in every way. From the shadows they keep us focused on personal problems and fearful of what tomorrow may bring. For in re-directing our preoccupation to what we think has been, they get back in!

What shadowy puppeteers fear most is consistency with Ghandi, FDR, Bobby, “Abraham, Martin & John,” who saw things not as they were, but might have been. A good man under constant fire, President Obama stubbornly fights to keep "the Ship of State" afloat in a sea left mined by lesser men. Americans love to bestow heroic status to many with less than heroic intentions. Like our votes, Presidents have been both good & bad for America, so perhaps we should worship less, and research more when choosing them. Too often polls reflect overreaction to misconceived expectations. So unless we wish to have our lives, the security of our children’s future and our Nation’s International Dignity muddied in the sludge of tyranny again, we need to stop believing in corporate owned “talking heads” and the National panic they beam, in the wake of a recurring Nixon, Bush and Cheney theme.

Create thinking time so we’re not herded, but heard. Stop looking back to a 1950’s tea time that never was. Purge, cleanse and purify ourselves of the devastation we inherited from our recent antics in the Bushes. Walk away from the banking institutions on which we bet the lives of our children. Turn down the volume, turn off the rhetoric and stop trusting those whose negative ads warp truth. Cease our mindless voting in reaction to media manipulation. Never, ever, ever again be duped by those who, like Rove & Woo, wipe their dirty shoes on our Constitution. Yes, we need another Massachusetts Democrat in the Senate, not because it’s a “Kennedy seat,” but because America needs responsible Health Care provision and not Republicans who keep us in the dark and on the run. Shine your light on the strings of their shadowy puppeteers, or else we are “left behind,” looking backwards in our mirrors. In the midst of a world, where dirt poor earthquake victims left with nothing, are pulled out of rubble singing praise, we must ask, is America still “The Home of the Brave?”

It’s all in the marketing, and Americans, looking for quick solutions are being duped by pretty faces, when what we really need is to support “Men of Reason.” Looking like our TV image of Superman, does not make a candidate a “Man of the People.” Arian Model looking Conservatives, like Scott Brown & Bob McDonnell are chosen for us for their TV camera appeal. You see, GOP Conservatives protect the status quo, because the status quo protects them. However, for Americans to move upward in an America that moves forward, we need to vote for substance, not whitewashing revisions of history, served up by superficial “suits.” “We the People,” need to Think Progressively, if we are to progress happily & securely throughout this new century. To prosper we need to be seen, counted and respected again. This is what “United We Stand” must mean.

In 2008, after our National government’s moral earthquake, the man from Hawaii said, “follow me” on a path we need to walk before we can run again. Given time, this vision will “Preserve, Protect and Defend." Our new President needs to count on us to be the Hero we all can be. If instead, after only a year we run scared, frightening Conservatives projecting misinformation into our homes with spewing dribble from “talking heads” who regurgitate “Mission Accomplished talking points,” will win by insuring American families lose. In 2010, in Massachusetts, in the Census, in mid-term Elections all across “the Land of the Free,” “We the People” must be our own Heroes and “Let Freedom Ring.”

HAITI: OUR NATIONAL CONNECTION

Now in tragedy, we can finally see our neighbor and benefactor HAITI. Any History buff can tell you that this most unfortunate, poverty stricken country, we now join an international effort not only to help, but to save, is in large part a recurring chapter in our Nation’s story. As an all but forgotten footnote, Haiti is the missing link which reveals the best and worst of America’s past, present and future: We Are A Connected People! In many ways the slave rebellion of Haiti, coming so soon after our own successful Revolution, is as vital to America being a country with a national reach “from sea to shining sea,” as our National generosity is now necessary to their survival. True it was the Europeans who began our march to the Second Continental Congress, our Declaration of Independence, the great experiment in our International “Exceptionalism” as “The First Modern Democracy,” albeit compromised at present, by the unpatriotic hypocrisy of “The Patriot Act,” and in the past, by the slaughtering of Native Americans. However, without “the War of Knives,” followed by Napoleon’s 1802 invasion, Crete-a-Pierrot, the arrest & death of Haitian freedom leader Toussaint, and, in less than 30 years after our own, the Declaration, in January 1804, of the Second Republic in the Western Hemisphere, we wouldn’t be the sum total of who & what we are. We’re connected.

If the ancestors of the very poor black Haitians who bravely hang on after the recent devastating earthquake, hadn’t made it “the better part of valor” for Napoleon to give Haiti back to the Haitians, in all likely-hood, our President Jefferson would not have had the opportunity to ignore Congress and the Constitution, and enlarge our not always united United States, by doubling the size of America with his 1803 Louisiana Purchase. See the connection?

As a Progressive Independent, I make every effort to listen to all points of view and choose the “Candidate” over the “Party.” I continue to appreciate and respect Republicans like Everett Dirksen and Governor Nelson Rockefeller, yes Goldwater too, and even those “tea baggers” who long for the rebirth of what the 50’s are supposed to have been, under the Golfer-in-Chief. However, living through the slow undoing of our National human decency and International respectability, resulting from the activities of people like, Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld, Gonzales and Rove, it became increasingly difficult to understand how “We the People” could settle for such a poor reflection of ourselves, in our government. I know we have never been the perfect people our movies and even history books portray, but surely we know the Bush League redefined each of us to the world, in a most disappointing and embarrassing way. I'm not an Obama worshiper, and I have little faith in either National Political Party. However, there is no comparison between the lack of leadership of the self-serving Bush League and the mature, calm and deliberate leadership of a President with an International vision, who seems to reach out at every opportunity to embrace and include all points of view. It’s more than Bipartisanship. It’s International accountability. It’s connecting, responsibly.

Our new young President knows, while we must not try to rule the world, we must be good citizens of and in it. Observing the Haiti comments of our recent trio of Presidents, is a most vivid reminder of the contrast between the limited view, reminiscent of those administrations who turned a blind eye to Papa & Baby Doc, in a self-deluding mind-set of protecting us from Communism. “Just send your cash,” is precisely what you’d expect from a moral & mental midget who at best, is so incredibly insensitive & Internationally unaware, and at worst, just too uninterested in anything beyond his personal turf of Texas dirt. Thankfully, the people of the world, could at least see that two to one, our most recent Presidents are examples of America’s best sincere Humanitarian International Citizenship. The Haitians will see it too, just as soon as they have sufficient medical help, clean running water, enough food for their children, homes, clothes and yes, electricity once again. I have faith, that with God’s help and our own, these descendants of fighters for Freedom & Independence for the Second Republic in our neighborhood, will survive and win the day. In recovering from our own near destruction from the Bush/Cheney years, let us resurrect our Humanity and re-connect to our shared history with our Haitian neighbors, in a Renaissance of our Human Decency.

"TO BE or NOT TO BE!"

Yes, truly, that is the question. There are no more "sure things." The Robber Barons of Corporate greed set free by The Bush/Cheney Regime, have successfully eliminated our American certainty, and replaced it with near financial ruin. Yes, I'd hate to see anyone but a Kennedy in the Massachusetts Senate seat, but it's time for the American citizen to stop thinking in terms of the Media created fantasy of Blue vs. Red, used by “talking heads” to ease their herding of the masses. As both Steele & Reid have proven, there are mental midgets in both National Parties.

This is a call for recognition: it's not about Color, or Party, or who you voted for in the past. It's about a new low for those in high office. It’s about a middle class that needs to rise up and put Banks, Wall Street, Media and Government in their proper place and perspective. It's about the newly “have nots,” taking back America from the "Money Changers."

And, it’s about Time!

Now we have no choice but to give elected officials and Business Institutions a taste of being “Left Behind” in the “Dark Side” they have created. It’s Time for “We The People,” to step back out into the Light of Free Will, Free Thinking and Freedom. It’s Time to restore the rights of both those who have paid their dues for family & country and those who have paid their debt to society. It’s Time to resurrect our Human Decency and protect it from all industries who look down on us as cattle to be herded to financial slaughter. Time to realize Corporate CEOs and their Board Members don’t care about you, your children, nor your neighbors and friends. Time to “Seize the Day, confident in the truth that, Corporate leaders don’t believe you & I will really do anything about their using us to maintain their lifestyle with outrageous bonuses. Out of sight, in the shadows of secrets and lies, Banks and other institutions are scrambling to think of newer schemes to drain our financial blood, and keep their corporate hearts beating the life out of us and our Nation. However, now they scramble also, out of a new fear of us. They are scared of the President with the new look from the foreign country of Hawaii. They are scared of what might happen when “We the People” decide to push back. They are scared of us, out here in the real US. HEADLINE: Wall Street lives in growing fear of Main Street. This is the Truth that sets us Free.

So stop blaming our purchased government, and cut off the money at its source. Take your money from The Takers, but don’t stop there. Sign petitions, rally your neighbors, call & write members of Congress, and yes, implore all conservatives to let go of their fear to let go of the “status quo.” Proclaim to all, this will be “the Land of the Free” again, beginning with me. Let those five per centers at the financial top, know that our American grass roots are now producing thousands of “George Baileys” who are making a comeback to re-take the “Home of the Brave.” “We The People” will not be the manure under their feet used to fertilize their financial takes. Send a clear message, in this year of Census and Elections, “We the People” count for something other than their source of “green.” Demand the repeal of the most unpatriotic “Patriot Act,” as just one of many wake up calls for the ensconced old guard holding hostage our National government and personal economies. Remember the power of the words, “I AM,” and proclaim across the political range, “I Am the Change,” and I’m coming to a Board Room near you, very soon. “We the People” now see the true color of Corporate America, and it’s not Red, White, Blue or Black. It’s Green, and cold calculating domestic Corporate anti-American activities of greed and oppression are as dangerous to our American financial stability as any attack from murderous members of al Qaeda. Now, America, “Lift Every Voice and Sing: “Let Freedom Ring.”

WHAT's The HARM?!?

No doubt there will be near misses and failures in our Homeland Security, especially since at least 1900 our Federal Government has done little to prepare us for a realistic, mutually beneficial and humane international world view. The truth is, like it or not, we all must share this earth with some degree of sensitivity to all Nations, Peoples, Environment and animal life who live upon it.

While the Bush/Cheney Administration may have been the least practitioners of such "justice for all," and most blatant in their efforts to profit from power by negatively programing, instead of helping the citizens it swore "to preserve protect and defend," they were by no means the first to do so. Still, the Bush League played us and "We the People" played into their hands, with the oft revisited "Macho, Macho Man" routine, proclaiming us the best, biggest, badest, John Wayne in the world, and who can forget, "Mission Accomplished!"

However, we've been here before. Remember, “The "Bay of Pigs" was the result of a CIA Dulles lying to his President and his country, just as DICK breath Cheney and his GOP cohorts have done to "We the People" throughout the 21st century.

Perhaps it's time to stop being so foolishly gullible. We were duped into thinking we were a Super Human Race – remind you of anyone? Now, we need less self-righteousness and more listening, careful review, checking our inner mirror to see ourselves as our fellow human beings around the world see us. Time to be attentive at all levels, to all things, insist on a government that shares information and communicate peacefully with each other, even those who blindly march still, in lock step with policies that put us “In Harm’s Way.”

“UNITED We Stand” is Not Just About WAR!

Most of my political life, I have been an Independent, more often than not, successful at appreciating all points of view and choosing the candidate over the “Party.” I’m also old enough, not only to remember, but appreciate and respect Republicans like Everett Dirksen and Governor Nelson Rockefeller, and even Goldwater. However, living through the slow undoing of our National human decency and International respectability during the “Dark Ages” of the Bush/Cheney/Rice/Rumsfeld/Gonzales/Rove administration, it became increasingly difficult to understand how we as a people could settle for such a low self-image of ourselves. I know we have never been the perfect people our movies and even history books portray, but surely we know when we’re being Nationally and Internationally redefined in a most disappointing way. Now, I don’t claim to be a scholar but I certainly don’t rely on Google or on either our mainstream or “new media” as my only resource/research for information and perspective, so I know when I’m being manipulated and I have to believe that those ever increasing “talking heads” with their ever narrowing self-serving talking points, know as well.

It doesn’t matter whether you are Republican, Democrat, Independent or Progressive, it simply is not acceptable to continue to lie to ourselves about how the first 21st century administration delivered us into this evil. To be reasonable, they didn’t create our most pressing dangers, however they did choose to profit from them. Using our Faith and Patriotism as cover, they marched us into a State of Fear, until we became “True Believers.” As we are about to be counted for representation and maneuvered into media driven
mid-term election mind-set, we simply need & must mute the rhetoric (even our own) so we can listen intelligently and review mentally all that we have been told, seen, heard and experienced in the first nine years of this New Millennium, because much is suspect, and deep down inside where we left our thinking caps, we know it.

No matter who you voted for in 2000, 2004, 2006, or 2008, who you vote for in 2010 is going to say who we are. As my European friends told me, “once could have been your Supreme Court, but twice, that was you.” So please let us take off our “Love it or Leave it” blinders or “rosy colored glasses” and see the world as the world sees us. Black, white, rich, poor, Conservative, Liberal, young, old, poor, middle class and even some rich (though not so much), we have been used, and if we continue to let Conservative spin scare us into irrational choices, we will never regain our common sense. Surely we can recognize when a hypocrite accuses us of being unpatriotic if we don’t shoot first and ask questions later. Surely we have not been blindsided so long that a Peter King and Joe Liberman do not offend us with their opportunistic grand standing. Please tell me, we don’t accept the near miss of loss of human life on Christmas Day, as we swallowed the politicizing of 9/11, with jet deck landing and “Mission Accomplished” pontification. Surely, we have seen the light by now and know it’s time to think reasonably, act responsibly and work together.

Terrorism and the acts of terrorists, domestic or foreign, in our seats of governmental power or neighborhoods needs to be recognized, acknowledged and overcome.
Right Conservatives are wrong: It is not weak for an American President to “review the situation” before plowing us under by blundering blindly forward. However, even if the GOP was correct, it is morally wrong to use human life and any threat to it or near catastrophe as a political means to fire up a frustrated base of support. Now whether you read the Bible, newspapers or tea leaves – think. Reconsider how every Congress & President from 1900 to 2008, regardless of Party, have led to a Nation that praises and believes in the secrets and lies of oil men in our White House, but also led to a President who is willing to accept responsibility, admit mistakes and even hold accountable those in government who failed to protect us. Can you even imagine GW, Cheney, Peter King, Rush Limbaugh, Michael Steele, Sarah Palin speaking so maturely and acting so responsibly?

“GOOD RIDDANCE” to TOM DELAY

Congratulations America: We’ve almost made it through the first decade of this new 21st century. How impressive we were, United & Counted in an historic 2008 reversal of fortune of eight years of abuse of power. Yes, for one brief shining moment, we were “We the People” again wielding the power to govern our government as originally intended. Yet, just like the Israelites in the desert, here we stand complaining “yeah, but what have you done for us lately,” not realizing our doubts and fears are fueled by those who fuel the economy for their own global satisfaction.

Truly, this has been a painful year for far too many, but the pain we endure must include a realization that there are those both in and seeking public office who simply don’t care about you, your family or your mortgage payments. They are the “money changers” about whom we were warned centuries ago. They are the users up and abusers of the great gifts, of this exceptional work in progress, we call America. They have become convincing imitators of goodness, profaning our faith and feigning patriotism. However they are not the good guys, for good guys do not look down on us from on high, while saying “no” to our Asking, Seeking & Knocking for a more secure footing. They want us focused on personal problems and fearful of what tomorrow may bring, for when they keep us standing still & distracted, we long for what we think has been. And they want back in!

So unless we wish to have our lives, the security of our children’s future and our Nation’s International Dignity ground into the ground again, it’s time to join those, like the passengers and crew on Christmas Day in the skies above Detroit, and stand up for ourselves. Willingly, Happily and Gladly be counted in the Census and counted on in the voting booth, so that “We the People” determine our family’s representation. For if we allow Conservative State Legislations to “run the table” like Tom DeLay playing with the numbers, we will neither be counted, or even count. The Census, like the voting booth, count us in, in “The Land of the Free.” This is our only path to being Nationally seen, heard, respected, preserved, protected, defended and prospered. This is what “United We Stand” needs to mean.

Conservatives protect the status quo, because the status quo protects them. So if you want to progress forward and upward, vote for Progressive thinkers. Naturally, we can count on GOP who got us here, to “take” us again, when we fear. However, to Reinvigorate Job Creation, Improve Education for all our Children, Develop our Communities, Protect our Religious Freedoms without imposing them on others, our new President needs to count on “We the People” to help him resurrect our “government of the people, by the people, for the people.” If we run scared, Conservatives win their PR battle with misinformation, regurgitating talking points and spewing dribble from talking heads.

In 2010, to guarantee our Voting Districts in a way that honestly represents us in The U. S., “We the People” must be counted on to be “The Voice of the People.”

PLEASE HEAR US and LISTEN!

PLOUFFE, GIBBS & AXELROD --

I understand what is, as well as what isn’t in the long awaited Health Care bill voted on in Congress this Christmas Eve, and I support the President completely.

I’m writing for those who aren't as fortunate as we, because what’s left of the President’s desire for Health Care Reform after "the good, bad and ugly" Congress has inflicted upon it, is still a wonderful step forward, at long last, but your one sided communications fall far too short of what the public needs to hear to enthusiastically support it. In short, the Republicans are winning the Info/PR war.

"We the People" need to hear from you that you have heard us. So make your various websites more interactively user friendly. There needs to be back & forth exchange before you can call it a conversation with America or "Change." While Americans are not as dumb as Republicans think, many are not quite as sophisticated as the President, and you guys need some On Camera work at communicating his great ideas, to achieve a greater majority.

As senior White House Staff, you need to understand that although Health Care Reform will favorably impact on our overall National economy eventually, every moment of every day and around most family dinner tables, “We the People” are focused on what is impacting negatively on their daily personal economy – an impact that far too often has resulted, not from anything they have done, but what was done to them by their own Bush League government and Banking institutions. Just one example: loans can only be made to people with jobs and a good credit rating, but after Banks without warning lowered credit lines and raised interest rates on credit cards and other sources of buying power for the general public, “We the People” were left with plummeting credit scores. Thus they can’t get the loans the President is asking Banks to make, especially if they find themselves suddenly unemployed or even under employed.

Now having had one Emperor "W" with a "Bismarck" Dick sidekick, most Americans are not asking the President to be a Dictator, but perhaps a little bit of an FDR wouldn't hurt. While I applaud the President's courageous efforts to reunite our country with Bipartisanship, the reality is, some very greedy Republicans and Bank Board Members got us, the USA and now the President into this financial funk, and they care very little about him or the Hopes & Dreams of Americans.

So please Mr. President, Stop Asking and Start Telling: Real Health Care Reform requires more than 60 votes in Congress. It requires Health Care Reform in our National MIND-SET: YES, both eating habits of a fast food nation and Fast Food Corporations must share in responsibility for our National Obesity; YES, Healthy Reform in Public Education is as necessary to the development of our youth, as are more healthy items on the school lunch menu, for an educated mind is a most valuable asset to any Nation; YES, Healthy Campaign Finance Reform would lead the way to lucrative health in any National Budget for Preventive Care, for bridges, schools, Community Centers and fewer foreclosures. For the best of Health, invest more in Peace and less in war. This is the Truth about America that will set us free from The Takers. Then again we will be “Sweet Land of Liberty.”

This is the America I remember in my dreams and it is “…of thee I sing:” “Let Freedom Ring!”
